Pitch Activity Book - Doggie Doggie
Music Resource Description
The "Doggie Doggie" activity book introduces a playful and engaging game for children, perfect for group settings such as classrooms or parties. The game is centred around a catchy tune that the children sing together while sitting in a circle. One child is selected to play the role of 'Doggie' and sits in the middle of the circle with their eyes closed, cradling a doggie puppet. To add to the excitement, a pretend 'bone' is discreetly passed to one of the children in the circle. The group then sings the song "Doggie, doggie where's your bone?" and the suspense builds as the child in the middle responds with "someone stole it from my home."
As the melody continues, the group asks "who stole your bone?" and the child who has the bone secretly responds with "I stole your bone." The Doggie, still in the centre with eyes closed, must then guess who has the bone. This can be done by recognising the voice and naming the child or by pointing towards where they believe the voice originated. Success leads to a switch in roles, with the child who had the bone taking the place in the middle to become the new Doggie. This charming game not only brings joy and laughter but also hones children's auditory discrimination and social interaction skills.
