For home learning, children are exploring the 'ay' sound with a variety of engaging activities designed to improve their spelling proficiency. The core of the learning material is a differentiated spelling list that focuses on words containing the 'ay' sound. The list includes words such as 'may', 'crayon', 'hay', 'frayed', 'play', 'betray', 'day', 'playing', 'way', and 'paying'. To challenge the learners further, the word 'birthdays' is presented as the challenge word of the week. Blank boxes are also provided for any additional words educators might want to include for practice.

Another key activity is the 'Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check' method, which encourages students to study the spelling of each word, memorise it, cover it, write it down, and then check their accuracy. This technique is applied to two separate sets of words from the spelling list. Additionally, there's a 'Read and Match' task where children can connect words with the 'ay' sound to their corresponding images, and they are prompted to use one of the words in a sentence.
