For home learning, students are encouraged to focus on the 'ir' sound through a series of spelling activities. They are provided with differentiated spelling lists that include words containing the 'ir' sound such as 'fir', 'shirt', 'sir', 'thirst', 'bird', 'squirm', 'stir', 'thirteen', 'girl', and 'thirty'. To further challenge the students, a challenge word 'circle' is also included. Blank boxes are available for any additional words educators might want to add to the list for the children to learn. The objective is to help students recognise and spell words with the 'ir' sound accurately.

The 'Look, Say, Cover, Write, and Check' method is a key part of the home learning process. This technique assists students in memorising the spelling of words by actively engaging with each step. They first look at the word, say it aloud, cover it, attempt to write it from memory, and finally check to see if they wrote it correctly, making corrections where necessary. Additionally, students are encouraged to read and match words to their correct pair and use them in sentences to demonstrate their understanding. They also have the opportunity to distinguish between real and nonsense words with the 'ir' sound, further reinforcing their learning. The activity includes popping bubbles with nonsense words and using real words in contextually appropriate sentences.
