Which are reptiles? - Word sort

In this engaging activity designed for Year 1 students, children are encouraged to work in pairs to identify which creatures among a list are reptiles. The task is interactive and educational, offering an opportunity for discussion and collaboration. Each pair is allocated 10 minutes to sort through the list and decide which six animals are accurately classified as reptiles. For every correct identification, the pair scores 2 points, turning the exercise into a fun and competitive learning experience.

To complete the activity, students are instructed to put a circle around the names of all the reptiles. The list includes a variety of animals: toad, lizard, dog, chameleon, snake, gecko, frog, crocodile, elephant, newt, tortoise, and parrot.
