Get knotted - Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
Physical Education Resource Description
Get Knotted is an engaging outdoor challenge that tests teamwork and communication skills. Participants are required to navigate a trail of rope laid out by their teacher, which weaves through a series of obstacles. The task must be completed without holding onto the rope, prompting students to think strategically about their movements and the next obstacle they must tackle. This activity is performed in pairs, with each partner taking turns to follow the course, providing an opportunity to observe and learn from each other's techniques and approaches to problem-solving.
After completing the course, partners are encouraged to evaluate their performance. They discuss how they addressed the challenges presented by the course, whether they adopted the same strategies as their partner, and which parts they found easy or difficult. The adventure escalates with the next challenge where one partner is blindfolded and must rely solely on the verbal instructions of the other to navigate the course. During this blindfolded journey, objects are tied to the rope, and the blindfolded partner must attempt to identify them by touch. This twist adds an extra layer of difficulty and emphasizes the importance of clear communication and trust between partners. At the end of the challenge, participants are tasked with recalling and writing down the objects they encountered along the way.
