Cops and robbers - What do you know about Mexico?
Geography Resource Description
The 'Cops and robbers' activity is an interactive group exercise designed to enhance pupils' recall and sharing of knowledge about Mexico, which is part of the North American continent. In this activity, pupils are arranged into groups of four and initially given two minutes to jot down everything they can remember about Mexico on their own. This might include facts about its culture, geography, history, or any other relevant information they have learnt.
Following their individual recall, each pupil has one minute to review the information recorded by their peers. During this time, they're on the lookout for any new or additional details that they didn't recall themselves. After this 'robbery' of knowledge, they have the opportunity to add this newly acquired information to the 'stolen knowledge' section of their chart. The aim is to gather as much information as possible from one another, and points are awarded for each piece of new knowledge recorded. This activity, which takes around 15 minutes to complete, encourages learning through collaboration and reinforces knowledge about Mexico's place within North America and its main geographical features.
