Cops and robbers - What do you know about the USA?
Geography Resource Description
The "Cops and Robbers" activity is an engaging and collaborative educational game designed to test and enhance pupils' knowledge about the United States of America. In this exercise, pupils are arranged into small groups of four and tasked with a challenge that combines quick recall and information sharing. Initially, each pupil is given two minutes to jot down everything they can remember about the USA in a chart under the 'Own recalled knowledge' section. This phase encourages independent recollection and serves as an individual knowledge check.
Following the initial recall phase, the game introduces an interactive twist. Each pupil is allotted 60 seconds to review the information listed by their peers, with the objective of identifying any new or additional facts they had not originally noted. This step is akin to 'stealing knowledge' from their group members. After this review period, pupils can add the newly acquired information to their chart under the 'Stolen knowledge' section. Each piece of information recorded, whether from their own memory or 'stolen' from others, is awarded two points. This activity, which lasts approximately 15 minutes, not only reinforces existing knowledge about the USA and its main geographical features but also promotes collaborative learning and information exchange among the pupils.
