Cops and robbers - What do you know about glass?
Science Resource Description
The "Cops and Robbers" activity is a dynamic classroom exercise designed to encourage pupils to recall and share their knowledge about glass. Initially, students are given two minutes to jot down everything they can remember about this transparent material on their own. This phase focuses on individual recall and allows pupils to consolidate their personal understanding of the subject.
Following this, the game introduces an interactive element where students have 60 seconds to 'steal' information from their peers. They are permitted to view up to three other children's answers and add any new information to the 'Stolen knowledge' column on their table. This encourages collaboration and the exchange of ideas. For each plausible statement written down, pupils earn two points, incentivising them to recall and share accurate information. The entire activity is designed to last 15 minutes, encouraging quick thinking and learning. The aim is to maximise the collective knowledge in the room about glass, its properties, and its uses, thereby enhancing the pupils' understanding of how to make the most of the materials around us.
