Five a Day - FDP - Fractions
Maths Resource Description
KS2Gems' Maths Five a Day offers a series of five questions designed to test and reinforce students' understanding of fractions, decimals, and percentages (FDP). This particular set of questions is tailored to help students recognise, find, write, name, and count fractions, as well as compare and order them. Each question is crafted in the style of those found in past SATs papers, providing a realistic practice experience for students preparing for these assessments.
The first question challenges students to identify the greater number between fractions and decimals presented in pairs. Subsequent questions require students to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios, such as determining the fraction of days with a maximum temperature above a certain degree. Other exercises include arranging fractions in ascending order and identifying which fractions are greater than a given value. The final question revisits the comparison format, asking students to circle the greater number between a decimal and a fraction. Teachers are encouraged to use these questions as a warm-up activity to gauge students' understanding or as a tool for retrieval practice to reinforce learning.
