Autumn Term Grammar and Punctuation Progress Test 2
English Resource Description
The KS2Gems2022's Autumn Term Grammar and Punctuation Progress Test 2 is designed for Year 6 students to assess their knowledge and application of various English language concepts. The test comprises a series of questions that students must complete within 20 minutes. The format includes multiple-choice questions, short answers, and tasks requiring students to tick, circle, or underline the correct answer. Each question has a specific mark allocation, guiding students on the weight of each question. The test covers a range of topics including identifying pronouns, fronted adverbials, conjunctions, synonyms, antonyms, and prepositions. It also tests their understanding of cohesion in sentences, the distinction between coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, the correct use of relative and possessive pronouns, and the identification of noun phrases and subordinate clauses.
Among the questions, students are asked to identify pronouns within a given sentence, recognise sentences that contain fronted adverbials, and circle conjunctions in a passage. They must also provide synonyms for underlined words, tick words that are antonyms of a given term, and circle prepositions in complex sentences. The test challenges students to understand the use of pronouns for cohesion, differentiate between types of conjunctions, complete sentences by choosing the correct grammatical option, and create drama in sentences using ellipsis. Additionally, they must identify sentences with noun phrases, determine whether pronouns are relative or possessive, underline adverbials, recognise sentences with subordinate clauses, and circle prepositions in a narrative context. This comprehensive test is a practical tool for evaluating students' grammar and punctuation skills at the end of the autumn term.
