Spring Term Grammar and Assessment Term 1
English Resource Description
The KS2Gems2022 Year 6 Spring Term Grammar and Punctuation Assessment Term 1 is a timed test designed to evaluate the grammar and punctuation skills of students. The test consists of a variety of questions that require different types of answers, including multiple-choice, short answers, and tasks such as ticking boxes, underlining, and circling the correct options. Students are allotted 20 minutes to complete the test, which is structured to assess their understanding of synonyms, pronouns, relative clauses, conjunctions, noun phrases, adverbials, determiners, punctuation for parenthesis, and the use of antonyms. Each question is assigned a number of marks, indicating the maximum score students can achieve for that particular question. The instructions emphasise the importance of working efficiently and reviewing answers if time permits.
Within the assessment, students are tasked with identifying synonyms for given words, determining sentences that contain specific grammatical elements such as two pronouns or relative clauses, and recognising conjunctions. They are also instructed to underline noun phrases, punctuate sentences correctly, and identify sentences that include adverbials. Additionally, students must distinguish between words that can function as determiners, change underlined words to pronouns, expand noun phrases into full sentences, and identify sentences containing relative pronouns. The test challenges students to recognise adverbials that indicate time or place, select antonyms for given words, and tick sentences that correctly use punctuation to indicate parenthesis. Finally, students must circle conjunctions in sentences, demonstrating their comprehension of grammar and punctuation in various contexts.
