Show it! - Plants - Year 3
Science Resource Description
In a Year 3 classroom, students delve into the fascinating world of plants, exploring the various roles that different plant parts play in maintaining healthy growth. As part of their learning journey, children are encouraged to 'Show It!' by presenting their newfound knowledge to their peers. This presentation not only reinforces their understanding but also hones their communication skills. Towards the end of the learning period, students are provided with the opportunity to share their insights in a variety of creative ways, which could include class discussions, displays, or even a staff-created PowerPoint that encapsulates the ongoing learning for a collective review.
To facilitate this sharing process, students are organised into small groups of no more than six. Collaboratively, each group is tasked with presenting a specific aspect of plant life. The topics range from the functions of different plant parts to the processes of pollination, plant growth, transpiration, and seed dispersal. Through this group work, children not only learn about the intricacies of plant biology but also develop teamwork and presentation skills as they educate their classmates about the wonders of the plant world. Focus Education (UK) Ltd provides the framework for this interactive and engaging learning experience.
