Show it! Group presentation - Habitats - Year 2

In a Year 2 classroom, an engaging group presentation activity is designed to explore the question, "Why do animals choose the habitats they have?" Towards the end of their learning journey on habitats, children are given the chance to showcase their understanding by presenting to their peers. This collaborative task encourages them to work in small groups, ideally no more than six per group, to delve into various topics related to animal habitats.

Each group is tasked with selecting one of the following subjects: animals that live in woodlands, the reasons behind the extinction of dinosaurs, river animals, animals that lay eggs, or sea creatures. Within their groups, children will further choose four animals, focusing on different environments such as water, trees, rainforests, and land, with an emphasis on including creatures from the UK and abroad. They will prepare a presentation to explain why their selected animals inhabit specific environments, taking into account the animals' dietary requirements and the features of their habitats. This interactive and educational activity not only enhances their understanding of animal habitats but also develops their presentation skills and teamwork.
