Cops and robbers - What do you know about light and dark?

The 'Cops and robbers' activity is an engaging educational game aimed at encouraging pupils to recall and share their knowledge about light and dark. Initially, students are given two minutes to jot down everything they can remember about the topic on their own. This phase of the game emphasises individual recall and allows pupils to consolidate their existing understanding of the concepts of light and darkness.

Following this, the 'robbers' aspect of the game comes into play, where pupils are given 60 seconds to 'steal' ideas from their peers. They are permitted to view the answers of up to three other children and add any new information they gather to the 'Stolen knowledge' section on the right side of their table. This interactive segment not only makes learning fun but also fosters collaboration and the sharing of information. Each plausible statement written down scores two points, incentivising pupils to think critically about the information they encounter. The activity runs for a total of 15 minutes, providing a dynamic and competitive way to explore the importance of light and dark and its impact on our daily lives.
