Max Maths, Year 3, Try it, Comparing and ordering fractions

In the 'Max Maths' Year 3 curriculum, students are encouraged to explore and understand fractions by comparing and ordering them. The 'Let's Try It' activity is designed to help children visually interpret fractions and develop the skill of comparing their sizes. In the first task, students are asked to write down the fractions represented by coloured parts in given shapes. They then compare these fractions to determine which one is greater or smaller. The second task focuses on reinforcing the concept of comparing fractions by choosing the smaller one between two given options. Students are presented with pairs of fractions, such as 4/10 and 3/10 or 1/4 and 1/3, and they must tick the fraction that represents the smaller part of a whole. This exercise helps to solidify their understanding of fraction sizes and the relationship between the numerator and the denominator.
