Cops and robbers - What goes on at a train station?
Geography Resource Description
The "Cops and Robbers" activity is a collaborative and educational exercise designed for groups of four pupils. It begins with each student taking two minutes to independently write down everything they can recall about a given topic, such as the happenings at a train station, on the left side of a table. This phase focuses on individual memory and knowledge retrieval without any external assistance.
Following this, each pupil is given sixty seconds to review the work of their three peers, seeking any information they themselves may have missed or forgotten. This part of the activity encourages attention to detail and the ability to learn from others. After identifying what they have not included in their own notes, students can then 'steal' this newfound knowledge by adding it to the 'stolen knowledge' section of their table. The aim is to accumulate as much information as possible, with two points awarded for each new piece of information recorded. The whole activity is designed to take approximately 15 minutes, fostering a fun and competitive environment that enhances learning through collaboration and information sharing.
