Spelling - nk

This set of educational slides is designed to help children learn and practise the 'nk' sound in words. The slides are categorised by colour, with yellow slides intended for display on a whiteboard and white slides containing printable activities that can be used if exercise books are not available. The lesson begins with a discussion about pictures depicting words with the 'nk' sound, such as 'tank', 'thank', 'pink', and 'sink'. Children are encouraged to sound out the words to identify the common sound. The teacher then models the pronunciation of various 'nk' words, and the children practise blending and saying them aloud.

Subsequent slides focus on reinforcing the 'nk' sound through various interactive activities. One activity involves adding sound buttons, dots, and dashes to words to help visualise the phonetic components. Another activity challenges children to make new words using a set of given letters within a time limit. Additionally, there are exercises where children label pictures with the correct 'nk' word, a game to build a spelling caterpillar by correctly spelling 'nk' words, and a bingo game to match words with pictures. The slides also include spell checks where children must write the 'nk' words dictated by the teacher, and flash cards for quick recall.
