Speak like an expert - State of Matter - Year 4

In an engaging and interactive exercise aimed at Year 4 students, "Speak like an expert" challenges pupils to delve deep into the subject of States of Matter. The activity is structured to encourage students to select a topic from a provided matrix, which includes a variety of concepts related to states of matter such as gas, liquid, solids, condensation, evaporation, the water cycle, oxygen, and precipitation. Once a topic is chosen, each student is given two minutes to articulate their knowledge on the subject, effectively communicating the intricacies of how some solids, liquids, and gases change state.

After presenting their topic, students are evaluated by their partner, who assigns them a score out of 10. To add an element of strategy and reward, the initial score is then multiplied by either 2 or 4, depending on the complexity column from which their topic was selected, with more complex topics being worth more points. This multiplication factor not only incentivizes students to tackle more challenging subjects but also introduces a mathematical element to the activity.
