Show it! Group presentation - State of Matter - Year 4

In Year 4, students are encouraged to explore the fascinating transformations of solids, liquids, and gases through a group presentation activity titled "Show It!" This interactive session provides an opportunity for children to showcase their understanding of how certain materials change state. Towards the latter part of their learning journey, children are invited to present their findings to their peers, employing a variety of presentation methods. This could include the use of staff-created PowerPoint slides that encapsulate the ongoing learning, which are then shared with the entire class to facilitate a collective learning experience.

For the presentation, students are organised into small groups, with each group consisting of no more than six members. These teams collaborate to create a presentation on one of several topics: water, melting metals, chocolate, the Water Cycle, or the processes of freezing and boiling. By engaging in this activity, students delve into the scientific principles behind the changes in states of matter, and they are encouraged to communicate their insights in a clear and engaging manner. As they stand before the class, they might begin with a friendly greeting such as "Good Morning," before delving into their chosen subject, such as the intriguing water cycle or the delightful melting of chocolate, thereby enhancing their understanding and confidence in the subject of states of matter.
