To determine the efficacy of different handwashing methods in preventing microbial growth, a study was conducted where various treatments were applied followed by a measurement of the area of microbial growth in square centimeters (cm²). The treatments included the absence of handwashing ('No Handwash'), the use of regular soap, a specific handwash product, and cleansing wipes. Additionally, a control was set where no handprint was taken ('No Handprint') to serve as a baseline for comparison. Each treatment was then visually represented through a drawing to illustrate the extent of microbial growth, providing a clear and comparative visual aid for the effectiveness of each handwashing method.

In parallel to examining handwashing methods, the study also investigated common locations to identify which harbours the most bacterial growth. The locations under scrutiny included keyboards, learning pads, door handles, the undersides of desks, and floors. Each location was tested for the presence (Y) or absence (N) of bacterial growth. This part of the study aimed to highlight potential hotspots for bacteria within an environment, thereby informing cleaning protocols and personal hygiene practices to minimize the risk of microbial transmission.
