Shadows - Objectives Labels
Science Resource Description
In Lesson 3.12, titled 'Shadows', students are set to explore the intriguing phenomenon of shadows. The objectives for the day are twofold: firstly, students will learn to recognise that shadows are created when light from a source is obstructed by an opaque object; secondly, they will investigate and identify the patterns in how the size of shadows can vary. Through this lesson, students will gain a foundational understanding of the basic principles of light and shadow formation.
To assess their grasp of the subject, students will be asked a series of reflective questions. They will confirm their understanding by explaining that shadows occur due to the blocking of light by a solid shape. They will also demonstrate their knowledge by recognising that a shadow mimics the shape of the object casting it. Furthermore, the lesson aims to equip students with the ability to describe the process of altering the size of a shadow, which will deepen their comprehension of how light and objects interact to create shadows of varying sizes.
