Week 2, lesson 2 Blends Ahoy activity "s,a,t,p,I" - Phonics Phase 2 - Worksheet
English Resource Description
The "Blends Ahoy" activity is an engaging phonics exercise designed for young learners who are at Phase 2 of their phonics development. During this activity, children are presented with a list of words that they must decode and read aloud. The words are composed of the letters 's', 'a', 't', 'p', and 'i', which are some of the initial sounds introduced in Phase 2 phonics. The children are tasked with identifying which of the words are real and which are nonsensical.
Once the students have read through the words, they are encouraged to participate in an imaginative game where the nonsensical words are made to 'walk the plank' by drawing a line from the word to a picture of a ship. This playful element not only makes the learning process more enjoyable but also helps reinforce the distinction between real words and made-up ones. The worksheet for Week 2, Day 2 includes a variety of words such as 'at', 'sit', 'tap', 'pap', 'tip', and 'tas' for the children to interact with, promoting their decoding skills and phonemic awareness.
