SATs Pack 2

The "Get The Buzz Practise Those KS2 SATs" pack provides a series of mathematical challenges aimed at helping Year 6 students prepare for their SATs. The questions cover a variety of topics, such as calculating differences in populations between towns, determining the cost of individual items based on group costs, and working out changes in quantities after transactions. For example, students are asked to find the difference in population between Swindon and Hereford, which requires them to subtract the smaller number from the larger. They are also tasked with deducing the cost of a necklace given the combined cost of the necklace and rings, and the cost of the rings alone. These exercises not only test the students' arithmetic skills but also their ability to apply mathematical methods and show their working.

Additional problems in the pack involve calculating the cost per item, such as determining the price of a single roll of wallpaper from the total cost and quantity, or figuring out the remaining balance in a bank account after deposits and withdrawals. Students must also infer the population of a town not listed in a table by using the total population and the known populations of other towns. The questions are designed to be practical and relatable, such as figuring out how much butter is needed for a recipe scaled down to fewer people or the change received from a purchase. Each question prompts the student to show their method, reinforcing the importance of clear and logical problem-solving steps. The answers are provided at the end of the pack, allowing for self-assessment and targeted practice where needed.
