Cops and robbers - What do you know about castles?
History Resource Description
The "Cops and Robbers" activity is an engaging and collaborative learning game that encourages pupils to share and expand their knowledge about castles. In groups of four, each pupil starts by spending two minutes writing down everything they can recall about castles on the left side of a chart. This section captures their own remembered information. After this initial phase, the game becomes more interactive as pupils are given one minute each to review the contributions of their peers. During this time, they are on the lookout for any new or different information that they have not noted themselves.
Following the review, pupils have the opportunity to 'steal' this newfound knowledge by adding it to the 'stolen knowledge' section of their chart. This method of learning from each other not only reinforces existing knowledge but also introduces new facts and perspectives. Each piece of information recorded, whether from personal recall or acquired from others, is awarded two points, incentivizing the pupils to share and learn as much as possible. The entire activity is designed to be a fun and interactive way to learn about castles and is intended to last about 15 minutes, making it a quick and effective educational exercise.
