Show it! - Climate Change - Year 6

Climate change is a critical issue that is incorporated into the Year 6 curriculum to raise awareness among students about its significance and impact on our planet. As part of their learning journey, children are encouraged to delve into the topic and then showcase their understanding towards the end of the unit. This presentation of learning not only reinforces their grasp of the subject matter but also hones their communication skills and confidence in public speaking.

To facilitate this, children are grouped into small teams, with no more than six members per group, to foster collaboration and ensure each child can actively participate. These groups are then tasked with creating and delivering a presentation on various subtopics related to climate change, such as greenhouse gases, the ozone layer, the influence of activists like Greta Thunberg, and the role of fossil fuels. This interactive approach to learning allows children to engage deeply with why climate change is an urgent and important topic, fostering a sense of responsibility and empowerment to take action for a sustainable future.
