Where are the different regions in the world where different biomes exist? - Presentation
Geography Resource Description
Biomes are vast ecological areas with distinct climates and specific plant and animal life. They are formed by a combination of factors including temperature, precipitation, and geographical location. In a brief educational unit, students are tasked with identifying and mapping various biomes across the world. Using a world map, they will colour-code regions to represent six different biomes: tundras, deserts, savannahs, rainforests, woodlands, and grasslands. This visual activity helps students to understand the geographical distribution of these diverse ecological zones.
Initially, pupils will focus on colouring three biomes they have already studied: deserts, tundras, and rainforests, each in a different colour. As they progress, they will add the remaining biomes—savannahs, woodlands, and grasslands—to their maps. This exercise not only reinforces the concept of biomes and their creation but also enhances geographic knowledge by associating these biomes with specific regions around the globe. The activity is designed to be interactive and informative, providing a clear visual representation of where different biomes are located on our planet.
