Which animals live in woodlands and forests in the UK and abroad? - Presentation
Science Resource Description
The rich tapestry of woodlands and forests across the UK and in various parts of the world provides a diverse habitat for a plethora of animal species. These environments offer shelter, food, and a space for breeding, which is why many animals choose them as their preferred habitats. In the UK, woodlands are teeming with indigenous wildlife, each species adapted to the unique conditions of these ecosystems. Students are encouraged to delve into the lives of six familiar woodland animals, exploring their names, diets, movements, predators, and life spans, as well as the reasons behind their habitat choices.
Looking beyond the UK, woodlands and forests around the globe are home to an array of exotic wildlife. From the majestic elephants and fierce tigers to the vibrant bird of paradise and the stealthy king cobra, these animals have adapted to their forest environments in remarkable ways. The educational journey includes researching six animals that do not reside in the UK, understanding their habits, and the intricacies of their woodland lives. In both cases, students work in groups to become 'champions' for one animal, sharing their findings with their peers and presenting a comprehensive view of woodland and forest wildlife both in the UK and internationally.
