Materials - Vocab Assessment

The vocabulary assessment is designed to gauge a student's understanding of various adjectives that describe the properties of materials. The words listed are commonly used to describe how light interacts with surfaces or the physical properties of objects. For instance, 'opaque' refers to a material that does not allow light to pass through, while 'transparent' describes a material through which light can pass, allowing clear vision of objects behind it. 'Translucent' materials allow light to pass through, but only diffusely, so that objects on the other side cannot be clearly distinguished.

Other terms relate to the mechanical properties of materials. 'Reflective' materials bounce light back, making them capable of casting back images or light, whereas 'non-reflective' materials do not reflect light in this way.
