Domes and Dishes - Invasion Games
Physical Education Resource Description
"Domes and Dishes" is an engaging and active game designed for physical education classes. The aim of the game is straightforward yet competitive: one team must work to turn all the cones into 'domes' (upright), while the opposing team strives to flip them into 'dishes' (upside down). The game is played with 10 to 20 cones of each colour, depending on the size of the group and the playing area available.
The rules are simple, making it easy for children of all ages to participate. Two teams compete against each other with the cones scattered randomly across the playing area. When the game starts, each team rushes to flip the cones to their designated position – domes or dishes. The frenetic action lasts for one minute, after which the play stops and the number of cones in each state is counted. The team with the most cones in their target position wins the round. This game not only promotes physical activity but also encourages teamwork, strategy, and quick thinking.
