Max Maths, Year 3, Try it, Relationship among units of time
Maths Resource Description
In a mathematics exercise designed for Year 3 students, the focus is on understanding the relationship among different units of time. The 'Let's Try It' section encourages students to convert time units into smaller or larger equivalents. For example, they learn to express 1 hour and 20 minutes entirely in minutes by adding the number of minutes in an hour to the given 20 minutes. Similarly, students convert 5 minutes and 2 seconds into just seconds, and 2 weeks and 3 days into days, reinforcing their understanding of how these time units relate to each other.
The 'Let's Practise' section further challenges students to consolidate their knowledge through more conversion tasks. They are asked to convert 1 week and 8 days into just days, 2 hours and 25 minutes into minutes, and 2 years and 8 months into months. Additional exercises require them to reverse the process, converting a given number of minutes into a combination of hours and minutes, days into weeks and days, and months into years and months. These activities are designed to help students become fluent in working with time units, an essential skill for their day-to-day life and future mathematical concepts.
