Max Maths, Year 2, Try it, Coins and dollar notes
Maths Resource Description
In the 'Let's Try It' activity from Max Maths for Year 2, students are encouraged to engage with real-world applications of mathematics by identifying and writing the value of various dollar notes and coins. This practical exercise is designed to help children familiarise themselves with different denominations of currency and enhance their understanding of money. The activity presents a series of images, labelled from (a) to (h), each depicting either a coin or a dollar note. The task for the students is to correctly write down the monetary value associated with each image.
This hands-on learning experience is not only a fun way for children to practice their numeracy skills but also a crucial step towards financial literacy. As they progress through the activity, students will be able to distinguish between the physical attributes of coins and notes, such as size, colour, and numerical value. The activity is complemented by workbook pages 162 to 164, which provide additional exercises and resources to reinforce the concepts learned. Through these engaging tasks, students are set on a path to confidently handle and manage money in their daily lives.
