Decimal - Assessment
Maths Resource Description
In this assessment on decimals, students are tasked with a variety of questions designed to test their understanding of decimal place values, operations, and their applications in real-life scenarios. For instance, they are asked to complete sentences by identifying the number of ones, tenths, and hundredths in a given number. They also practice adding decimals, such as finding the sum of 6.132 and 4 hundredths, and identifying which digit is in the ones or tenths place in a number like 56.1. Additionally, students are required to multiply and divide numbers by 10 and 100, filling in missing numbers in equations and placing the answers correctly in a place value grid.
The assessment continues with questions that require students to apply their knowledge of decimals to solve problems related to real-world contexts. For example, they calculate how far Leanna travels if she goes three times further than Malachi, who travels 4.2 miles to school. They also decide if a fraction is more than 0.5, divide 8.4 by 4, match decimals with their equivalent fractions, and determine the cost of a single pen given the total cost for a pack. Furthermore, they work out how many friends Tia shares chocolate bars with, each receiving 0.25 of a bar, and compare the cost of soup per can between two shops to find out which one offers the cheaper price. The assessment concludes with a self-evaluation where students can rate their confidence in working with decimals.
