Properties of shape - Compare angles​ - Starter

In the 'Fluent in Four - Revision' activity designed for Year 3 students during the Summer Term's seventh week, children are presented with a series of mathematical challenges to test their understanding of various concepts. The tasks include multiplication problems, such as calculating 3 times a number to equal 27 and solving an equation involving subtraction within a multiplication context, specifically 5 times the difference between 57 and 31. Additionally, the students explore the relationship between fractions of a turn and right angles, enhancing their knowledge of geometry by identifying how many right angles make up a quarter and a half turn.

The activity further includes practical applications of measurement and comparison. Students are tasked with comparing the lengths of two pencils, requiring them to fill in the blanks with the correct measurements in centimetres and millimetres. They must then determine how much longer the longer pencil is compared to the shorter one. The exercise also integrates a real-life context problem involving counting the number of pink and blue socks, thereby engaging children in applying their mathematical skills to everyday situations. These varied exercises aim to build fluency in foundational maths skills, with an emphasis on understanding angles, multiplication, and measurement.
