What do we know about the other great civilisations of this time? - Teacher's Notes

The National Curriculum in the UK stipulates that pupils should have knowledge of the great civilisations that existed around 3000 years ago. This includes an understanding of the earliest civilisations' achievements and the ability to locate where and when these civilisations first emerged. Specifically, students are expected to learn about Ancient Sumer, the Indus Valley, Ancient Egypt, and the Shang Dynasty of Ancient China.
