Show it! Group presentation - South America - Year 5

In a dynamic and engaging Year 5 classroom activity, students are encouraged to explore the vibrant continent of South America through group presentations. This task, set towards the end of their learning journey, provides an excellent opportunity for children to showcase their understanding and knowledge of South America's main features. It is an interactive way to consolidate their learning and develop their presentation skills, as they work together in small groups, with no more than six members per team, to delve into various topics related to South American culture, geography, and society.

The range of topics available for the presentations ensures that every student can find an area of interest, whether it be the exotic Fruits of South America, the poignant issue of Brazil’s street children, the passion for Brazilian football, the cultural richness of Argentina, or the unique characteristics of Chile. Presentations can be creatively executed through diverse methods, such as creating a PowerPoint, performing a skit, or even using props and visual aids to enhance the learning experience. The goal is to enable students to confidently stand before their classmates and say, "Good Morning, I would like to tell you about…" followed by an insightful exploration of their chosen topic, which will not only educate their peers but also allow them to practice public speaking in a supportive environment.
