Verbs SATs Style Questions

KS2Gems has created a resource titled "Verbs SATs Style Questions" to help Year 6 students prepare for their SATs exams. This educational tool includes five questions each day that imitate the format of past SATs papers, focusing specifically on verbs within the English Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling curriculum. The questions are crafted to assess and reinforce students' understanding of verbs, with answers provided on subsequent slides for immediate feedback. Teachers can utilise this resource as a starter activity, either to gauge students' knowledge or for retrieval practice, ensuring that the fundamental concepts of verb usage are well ingrained in the pupils' learning.

The questions range from identifying the use of 'present' as a verb in different contexts to pinpointing modal verbs within given passages. For example, one question asks students to identify in which sentence 'present' is used as a verb, with options highlighting its various uses in the English language. Another question challenges students to find all the verbs or verb phrases in a passage about Rover following his nose. Further exercises require students to identify modal verbs in context, helping them to understand nuances in expressing possibility, obligation, and hypothetical situations.
