Suffixes 2 SATs Style Questions
English Resource Description
KS2Gems has developed a series of SATs style questions specifically tailored for students to practice and enhance their understanding of suffixes. This set, titled 'Suffixes 2', comprises five questions that emulate the format of previous SATs papers, covering the area of Grammar, Punctuation, or Spelling (GPS). Each question is crafted to assess and reinforce students' knowledge of suffixes, with answers provided on subsequent slides to facilitate immediate feedback and learning.
The questions range from matching exercises, where students pair words with the correct suffix, to sentence completion tasks that require the addition of a suffix to a base word. For instance, students might be asked to match the word 'horror' to the suffix 'ible' or to complete a sentence by transforming the word 'explore' into 'exploration' or 'exploratory'. These exercises are designed to be used as a starter activity, either to gauge students' existing knowledge or as a retrieval practice to help cement their understanding of how suffixes alter the meaning and function of root words.
