Suffixes 1 SATs Style Questions
English Resource Description
KS2Gems has crafted a set of SATs style questions focused on 'Suffixes 1', designed to test pupils' understanding of grammar, punctuation, and spelling. This set comprises five questions, each mirroring the format found in past SATs papers. The questions are intended to either kick-start a lesson as a warm-up activity or serve as a tool for retrieval practice, allowing students to revisit and reinforce their knowledge of suffixes.
The first question challenges students to match words to their corresponding suffixes, ensuring each suffix is used only once. For example, they might pair 'encourage' with 'ment' to form 'encouragement'. The second question requires students to add a suffix to given words to complete sentences correctly, such as transforming 'use' into 'useful'. Questions three to five continue in a similar vein, asking students to form new words by adding suffixes to base words like 'calculate' and 'retire', and then use those new words to complete sentences. Each question is followed by an answer slide, providing immediate feedback and facilitating self-correction.
