Subject Verb Object SATs Style Questions
English Resource Description
KS2Gems has crafted a set of five SATs style questions aimed at enhancing students' understanding of the grammatical concepts of subject, verb, and object. These questions are designed to mimic the format found in past SATs papers, providing students with a familiar structure to test their knowledge. The resource is intended for use as a starter activity, either to assess students' existing knowledge or to engage in retrieval practice to reinforce their understanding.
The questions require students to identify the subject in a sentence, such as determining who hopes to meet the Queen in a given scenario. Students are also asked to underline the subject in another sentence, where they must discern who sold out of ice creams. In a more complex task, they label parts of a sentence with 'S' for subject or 'O' for object, as in the example where Jordan reads and gives away books. Another exercise has students underline the object affected by the wind, and the final question challenges them to underline the verbs in a sentence about staying indoors during the rain. These exercises are valuable for students to practice and master the identification of sentence components, a key skill in English grammar.
