Show it! Group presentation - Digestive system - Year 4

In an interactive Year 4 classroom activity focused on the digestive system, students are encouraged to explore and present what happens to the food we eat. Towards the conclusion of their learning journey, children are given the chance to showcase their understanding by presenting to their peers. This not only reinforces their knowledge but also develops their public speaking and presentation skills. Presentations can be conducted in various creative formats, and sometimes the teaching staff may support this process by preparing a PowerPoint presentation that encapsulates the ongoing learning for the class to view.

Students are organised into small groups, with a maximum of six members per group, to foster teamwork and collaboration. Each group is assigned a specific topic related to the digestive system, such as the role of the mouth and teeth, the function of the stomach, the concept of food chains, the importance of the liver and gall bladder, or the workings of the intestines. The aim is for the groups to delve into their given topics and then 'show' their newfound knowledge through engaging presentations. This exercise not only solidifies their grasp of how food is processed by the human body but also allows them to take ownership of their learning by teaching others.
