3 Team Attack - Football
Physical Education Resource Description
The '3 Team Attack' is a dynamic football drill designed for groups of 9 to 12 players, who are divided into three teams of three or four. In this exercise, Team A begins by attacking one goal and, upon scoring, immediately turns to attack the opposite goal. However, if the defensive team successfully dispossesses Team A, then Team B takes over and begins their attack on the opposite goal. This creates a fast-paced and continuous practice environment where teams must quickly switch between offensive and defensive roles.
To add complexity and challenge to the drill, coaches can introduce differentiation techniques. One such method is to require that shots on goal must be taken from within a predetermined area, ensuring players work on precision and spatial awareness. Another variation is to stipulate that shots must be one-touch finishes, which encourages quick thinking and sharpens players' finishing skills under pressure. These adaptations help to cater the drill to different skill levels and objectives, making the '3 Team Attack' a versatile and effective training tool for developing various aspects of a player's game.
