Max Maths, Year 3, Practice, Halving and doubling odd and even numbers
Maths Resource Description
The 'Max Maths' Year 3 practice activities are designed to strengthen mental arithmetic skills, focusing specifically on halving and doubling both odd and even numbers. The exercises require students to quickly calculate and understand the properties of the numbers they are working with.
For example, students are prompted to double the number 7 and then describe it as an odd number before and after doubling. The same process is applied to the number 11, another odd number. They are also asked to find half of the even number 18, and then identify the resulting number as odd or even. The activity continues with doubling numbers such as 29 and 34, and halving numbers like 68, 42, and 34. These tasks are designed to be completed mentally, encouraging students to become fluent with these mathematical operations. To further practice and consolidate their learning, students are directed to workbook pages 34 to 38 for additional exercises.
