The Multiplication Times Table Challenge 2 Objectives
Maths Resource Description
The Multiplication Times Table Challenge 2 is a rigorous test aimed at Year 4 students to assess their proficiency in multiplication. The challenge consists of a series of multiplication problems that students must complete within a five-minute time frame. The objective is to accurately solve 100 multiplication questions, testing a range of times tables, from simple multiplications like 1 x 12 to more complex calculations such as 12 x 12. This exercise serves as an excellent tool for improving speed and accuracy in mental arithmetic, as well as reinforcing the multiplication skills that are crucial at this stage of learning.
The worksheet is designed to be completed under timed conditions, with a space provided for students to record the time taken if they finish in under five minutes. This encourages a sense of urgency and focus, while also allowing for self-assessment and goal-setting. Students are required to fill in their name and the date before commencing the challenge. Upon completion, the score out of 100 is recorded at the bottom of the page, giving immediate feedback on the student's multiplication ability. This challenge, created by KS2Gems in 2020, is an effective way to motivate students to master their times tables, an essential foundation for more advanced mathematical concepts.
