Maths Resource Description
The 'Fluent in Four' revision exercise is part of a Year 3 curriculum designed to enhance students' proficiency in various mathematical concepts. On Day 2 of Week 7 in the Summer Term, the children are challenged with a series of questions that test their arithmetic and problem-solving skills. The first task requires students to perform a subtraction: from the number 593, they must subtract to get 326. This is followed by a question that asks them to express the time '5 past 11'. Further, the children must demonstrate their understanding of place value by subtracting 389 from 736, breaking the numbers down into hundreds, tens, and ones.
Another part of the exercise involves directional knowledge, where students start facing North and then turn three quarters anticlockwise. They must identify which direction they are facing after the turn. Simple addition problems are also presented, such as 27 plus 7 and 6 plus 87, encouraging the children to count on from the larger number to find the sum. Additionally, the exercise includes a pictogram to be completed, featuring names such as Tia, Zach, Rosie, and Leanna, with corresponding values to be filled in. This variety of questions is designed to consolidate the pupils' mathematical skills in a well-rounded manner.
