Length and height - Assessment
Maths Resource Description
The Length and Height Assessment for Year 2 pupils is a comprehensive evaluation of their ability to understand and measure length and height in both centimetres and metres. The assessment tasks students with a variety of challenges, such as ordering the heights of different shapes from tallest to shortest and recording measurements accurately. They are also asked to identify the longest string from a given selection and to complete sentences by choosing the appropriate unit of measurement for the height of a dog and the length of a classroom, which are 60 centimetres and 8 metres respectively.
Further exercises include practical applications, such as drawing a rectangle with specific dimensions on a centimetre square grid. Pupils must also compare lengths using the symbols for greater than, less than, or equal to, and determine the full length of an envelope when only half is shown. Additionally, they must use logical reasoning to estimate the length of a pen based on its comparison to others. Finally, the assessment provides an opportunity for students to self-evaluate their confidence in dealing with length and height measurements, ensuring that the assessment not only tests their knowledge but also encourages self-reflection on their learning journey.
