Fractions - Find a third - Starter

In a Year 2 mathematics lesson focused on fractions and shapes, students are presented with a series of interactive activities to enhance their understanding of fractions and three-dimensional shapes. The lesson begins with a 'Fluent in Four' revision segment, where students are tasked with solving multiplication problems that lead to the discovery of missing numbers. They are then invited to complete sentences that require them to identify the next shape in a sequence, reinforcing their knowledge of 3D shapes such as cuboids, cylinders, cones, cubes, and pyramids.

As part of the lesson, pupils are also asked to fill in the blanks to demonstrate their grasp of fractions. They confirm that there are two equal halves in one whole, four equal quarters in one whole, and three equal thirds in one whole.
