8 Times Tables - Go Solo

The 'Go Solo' activity is an engaging and colourful way for children to practise their 8 times tables. To begin, each child will need coloured pencils and a copy of the 'Products of 8 Board'. The objective is to identify and colour pairs of numbers where one number, when multiplied by 8, equals the second number. For instance, a child might select the colour blue to link the number 5 with 40, since 5 multiplied by 8 equals 40. They would then proceed to colour all instances of this pair on the board in blue. Once they have completed colouring all the pairs for one set of numbers, they choose a new colour and a new set of pairs to work on, continuing this process until all numbers on the board have been paired correctly, with each factor and its corresponding product linked together.

The 'Products of Eight' section of the activity presents a grid filled with numbers, where the task is to pair each factor with its product. Numbers ranging from 1 to 12 and their multiples of 8, such as 8, 16, 24, and so on, up to 96, are scattered across the board. Children must use their multiplication skills to find pairs that form products of eight and colour them accordingly. This not only reinforces their understanding of the 8 times table but also allows them to practice multiplication in a fun, interactive manner. By the end of the activity, students will have a vibrant and visual representation of the 8 times table, aiding in memorisation and recall of these essential multiplication facts.
