Decimal What Next
Maths Resource Description
"Decimal What Next?" is an engaging game designed to help players understand and compare decimal numbers. The game requires players to use a 0-9 die and involves throwing the dice to generate three digits, which will form a decimal number. Before rolling, players must decide which throw will represent the tenths, hundredths, or thousandths place, thus creating numbers like 0.634. After writing down the initial number, players predict whether the next number they roll will be higher or lower.
As the game continues, each correct prediction allows the player to extend their numerical chain, for example, 0.634 (predicting less)…0.437 (predicting more)…0.456, and so on. If a prediction is accurate, the new number is added to the chain, and the player predicts again. However, if a prediction is wrong, the chain ends. Players aim to create the longest chain of correct predictions to score points, with the first to reach 5 points declared the winner. A key strategy in the game is recognizing that only when the tenths digits are identical do players need to compare the hundredths digits to determine the larger number. This game, published by Buzzard Publishing, is a part of the "Get The Buzz Maths Games" collection.
