Target Times 1 is a fun and educational game aimed at enhancing children's rapid recall of multiplication tables. This engaging activity requires a pair of dice with numbers from 0 to 9 and can be played by two or more participants. The objective of the game is to reinforce the knowledge of times tables through practical application and a bit of friendly competition.

To start the game, players choose a two-digit target number. Each player takes turns rolling the dice to generate two single-digit numbers, which they then multiply together. For example, if a player rolls a 6 and a 3, they multiply them to get 18. Players have three attempts each to hit the target number, and the person who gets a product closest to the target scores a point. The first player to accumulate 10 points emerges as the winner of the game. Additionally, the game encourages discussion about different strategies for learning multiplication, such as chanting through tables or using known multiplication facts and doubling to deduce other results. This not only aids in memorisation but also develops mathematical reasoning skills.
