Arithmetic Checklist and Assessment
Maths Resource Description
The "ArithmeCheck" series is a comprehensive set of arithmetic checklists and assessments designed to help students in their mathematical journey. The checklists, such as ArithmeCheck 3A, 3B, and 3C, are tailored to evaluate various arithmetic skills. These include comparing and ordering numbers up to 1000, using place value to adjust numbers by 10s and 100s, partitioning 3-digit numbers in different ways, and employing mental and formal written methods for addition and subtraction. Additionally, students are expected to recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4, and 8 times tables, double 3-digit numbers, multiply and divide by 10 using place value, and partition numbers to multiply or divide mentally.
For example, in the place value section, students might be asked to order a set of 3-digit numbers or determine possible values on a number line. In addition, they'll perform calculations such as finding 100 more or 10 less than a given number and partitioning numbers in various ways. In the multiplication and division sections, students are tested on their ability to recall times table facts, double numbers, and perform calculations involving multiplication or division by 10. The assessments also include practical exercises such as halving 3-digit numbers and using known facts to divide 2-digit by 1-digit numbers mentally. These tasks are structured to build confidence and proficiency in arithmetic, with a focus on understanding and applying key mathematical concepts.
